Illegal Alien Costume Stirs Up Controversy

'Illegal Alien' Costume

Nothing like a little controversy to ruin any party, so why should Halloween be any different? This year’s controversy centers around a Halloween costume being sold by several of the largest retailers in America. The costume is a mask of an out-of-this-world alien wearing an orange jumpsuit with the words, “Illegal Alien” stenciled on the front. The costume also comes with a complementary “Green Card” to complete the humorous ensemble.

But alas, organizations like the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) have demanded that the stores stop selling the costume calling it “offensive” and “ignorant.” That’s rather funny in and of itself because illegal alien friendly organizations like the one mentioned have abandoned the term “illegal alien” and instead replaced it the softer, friendlier “undocumented immigrant” when referring to people who have broken the law and entered our country illegally. “Undocumented Immigrant?” That’s like a shoplifter wanting to be called an “undocumented shopper” because he doesn’t have a sales receipt.

It’s just a Halloween costume. A parody. Get over it.

For the record:

Bernie Madoff, who recently started serving his 150 year prison sentence for defrauding investors out of an estimated $65 billion and who likewise prefers to be called “creative” rather than a “scam artist,” appears to have the #1 selling Halloween costume this year — a mask of his likeness. Move over Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Frankenstein.
